  FUV Rider Training
Posted by: Sniffy - 10-09-2018, 08:27 PM - Forum: General FUV Discussion - Replies (18)

I had the great pleasure of finishing the S/TEP training program this weekend.  In Washington state, we require a special endorsement to ride a three-wheeler.  So I took this course in anticipation for next year.  At the end of the course, if you pass, they give you a certificate that you take to the DMV to have your driver's license endorsed.

I did not try the side car rig, since it looked a little too challenging for someone under the weather, as I was.  I did try the trike, and it was fun, but it was somewhat like riding a garden tractor at speed.  It was enough to know that a trike will likely not be in my future.

The Can-Ams were a revelation.  I did not have any expectations about riding these, but the fun factor was through the roof.  Since the form factor is very similar to the Arcimoto, my anticipation has doubled.

Evergreen supplies the vehicles, and this photo shows the fleet they keep at the South Seattle Community College range.  Thanks to my classmate, Robert for allowing me to take his photo.

There are many idiosyncrasies with a reverse trike, and this course gives familiarity to them.  I was able to lift a front wheel in a turn, despite the Can-Am's leveling technology.  I assume it will be the same with the Arcimoto.

I highly recommend this course to anyone considering the Arcimoto.  The skill set that they teach is directly transferrable.

  shipping costs?
Posted by: jimball - 10-08-2018, 01:00 PM - Forum: General FUV Discussion - Replies (3)

Any ideas on how much it's going to cost to ship an FUV to various points in the country?  Once Arcimoto is shipping large quantities of FUVs every week, they might be able to negotiate a flat rate like Grizzly has for their heavy machinery, but that's not going to be a reality for those of us on the reservation list.  I'm over 1,900 miles from Eugene, Or. so getting a trailer and picking mine up at the factory is not an option.

Ship & Store (Towing my FUV)
Posted by: CreativeGuy - 10-07-2018, 08:59 PM - Forum: General FUV Discussion - Replies (20)

Greetings,
I recently bought a 6' X 10' enclosed so that I have a way to haul Goldie to EV event beyond the driving range.  Also, since she generally resides in my little shop, I now have a place to keep her out of the weather if I need to use my shop.  It's a pretty tight squeeze to get in through the opening with only an extra inch on each side.  I couldn't get a larger trailer as it would have been too much for our Ford Escape to pull. When I put Goldie in there facing forward, I discovered that there was way too much weight on the tongue.  So when I use the trailer to tow her, I'll need to back in.

  Beta Fleet Complete!
Posted by: Kepesk - 10-01-2018, 02:17 PM - Forum: General FUV Discussion - Replies (5)

Woohoo! Go Team Arcimoto!

I wonder who those incredibly lucky Pioneer customers are.

https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/2...ufacturing

EUGENE, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Arcimoto, Inc.® (NASDAQ: FUV) — makers of the Fun Utility Vehicle® (FUV) — an affordable, joyful, pure electric vehicle for everyday drivers and fleets, announced that it has completed first drives of its 15-unit FUV Beta Series, and today will begin manufacturing its new 25-unit Pilot Series.

The Company expects that the Beta fleet will be used primarily as rental vehicles. Five are planned for use at an Arcimoto rental location, expected to open in the fourth quarter in Eugene, Oregon. Five are planned for use as rentals by the Company’s partner, HulaCar in San Diego. The final five FUVs have been purchased by Arcimoto Pioneers, a group of key, early pre-order customers.

The Pilot Series, now in production, marks the transition to semi-automated manufacture of all custom frame and chassis components completely in-house at the Arcimoto Manufacturing Plant. These vehicles represent the final production series of the FUV before Retail Series production begins, expected by the end of 2018.

“On-roading the Beta Series is a huge step forward for Arcimoto. Our pace of production has improved between the Signature and Beta Series, from more than a year for the ten Signatures to just over a quarter for the first drives of fifteen Betas. We expect a similar increase in pace with the Pilot Series,” said Mark Frohnmayer, President and Founder. “With each FUV we build, we learn invaluable lessons on how to refine and streamline our manufacturing process as we march toward Retail Series production, expected later this year. The starting line is in sight, and we couldn’t be more amped.”

That's NINE FUVs all in a neat row, at least five of which I have never seen before, even in pictures! And that's more complete FUVs than I have ever seen in a single photo.
